After church today, please join us for Indigenous Games in the hall, lead by Sarah Kaup, who is Metis. Michelle Schurek was introduced to Sarah by Rev. Nick Trussel at a Treaty 6 event in August, hosted by St Luke’s. Sarah is passionate about the fun, playful and energetic nature of the games she’ll share. Please join us for a great time, fun learning and entertainment for participant and spectator alike!
This afternoon (Sept 29, 2024), you are invited to join in the gathering for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, hosted by St. Luke's and All Saints, between 3:00-5:00 pm at St. Luke's (8424 95 Ave NW). This day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Knowledge Keeper Verna Fisher and Drummer Lloyd Cardinal will be leading the group in as they learn and heal together with Ceremony, Dancing & Bannock.
Thanksgiving weekend is two weeks away. There are several charities in Edmonton who host Thanksgiving dinner for the people they serve, such as the Bissell Centre, Mustard Seed and Hope Mission. These organizations have all reported increased requests for assistance in 2024. Please help support their Thanksgiving meals as well as the ongoing service these organizations provide. Take a look at them online at https://bissellcentre.org/, https://theseed.ca/, and https://hopemission.com/.
