You may have heard this week that the Edmonton Public School previously known as Oliver School has been renamed wîhkwêntôwin School. This is in step with the renaming of the Community League in same neighbourhood earlier this year. The renaming comes after a long process, initiated by residents of the community in 2020. wîhkwêntôwin (pronounced we-kwen-to-win) is a Cree word that means “Circle of Friends”.
