Community Corner for Sunday, September 4, 2022As we approach September 30, 2022, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, there are many resources to explore. Canadian Baptist Ministries has a number of articles at “Walking together in a Good Way” that give a good framework to undertaking the life-long work of reconciliation. From the website: ‘Now, let’s start off this journey with this acknowledgment, “You don’t know what you don’t know” … and let’s follow that acknowledgment with, “Now that you know, how then shall we live.” Now let’s take that first step.’ – Cheryl Bear St Peter’s Anglican Church in Westmount is one of the sites for this year’s Mural Massive Festival. The Festival runs September 3-10 with installations around Strathcona and downtown Edmonton. A large-scale mural will be painted on St Peter’s, and they have week-long events around the mural’s installation. Week day programming begins at 3pm each day, with a community BBQ on September10. Mental Health Highlight for September 4, 2022As the school year starts up once again, looking after basic details like diet, sleep, stress reduction and more can slip. New routines are being worked out, and the disruptions are sometimes difficult to adjust to. In the article “Learning About Self-Care from the Old Testament”, the author looks at the story of Elijah, and reminds us that rest, nutrition, hydration and quiet are necessary for our wellbeing, especially our mental health.
