International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. The SkirtsAFire Festival is Edmonton’s only theatre and multidisciplinary arts organization featuring women and non-binary artists. In conjunction with International Women’s Day, this festival runs Feb 29 to March 10. For more information please visit

Have you heard about Edmonton’s Seedy Sunday? Whether you are a beginner gardener or a savvy seed saver, there is something for you! Encouraging the preservation and sharing of seeds for the promotion of native plants and supporting local seed companies, and in partnership with EPL, it runs Sunday, March 24 at Alberta Avenue Hall from 11am to 4 pm.
