Session 4: Recovery – Recovery is an ongoing process to support flourishing, even as some mental illness persists in a chronic condition. In this session, we learn about five aspects shared in most recovery journeys, including hope, positive identity, personal responsibility, education and engaging community. In this session’s video, we learn from Isabelle, who lives with depression and is in recovery from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and eating disorders.
The Sanctuary Course is an 8-week course that gives participants a chance to broaden their understanding of mental health from a Christian perspective. Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries is a Christian non-profit organization that was founded in 2012 for the purpose of equipping churches in Canada to love and support community members with lived experience of mental health challenges. Please take a look at their website HERE for a brief introduction to the program.
