Good practices are a major key to help maintain your mental wellbeing. While it is true that additional supports may be necessary, the “Take 5” approach to general mental wellness outlines 5 areas to focus on: Connect, Keep Learning, Be Active, Take Notice, and Give. The first area of these 5, “Connect”, emphasizes building connections of different strengths with people around you: family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, and parishioners at home, work, school, church and in your local community. Building these connections support and enrich your life, and are mutually beneficial. The strength of the relationships is important, as feeling close to others and valued are an important aspect of personal wellbeing.
